Rosie Friedland voice
I want to share my passion for music and singing with you.
Music teachers have literally changed my life. I know what an encouraging, kind cheerleader — who also gently pushes you to step a foot outside your comfort zone — can do for your confidence and ability to achieve your goals.
I also believe in the power of knowing about the instrument of your voice through anatomy and physiology.
My background
I take teaching very seriously, and I want to make sure you know my qualifications and commitment to this work. Here’s some of my background:
- For 16 years (2002-2018), I was a regular member of choirs, including the chamber choir at University of California, Irvine and Angel City Chorale in Los Angeles. I've had the opportunity to sing with choirs in Budapest, Vienna, Prague, New Orleans, and even to record a couple of songs at Abbey Road studios!
- In 2017 I started singing with jazz and big bands, which was a lifelong dream realized. I now play with big bands, octets, quintets and duos, some of which I lead.
- In 2017 I started taking voice lessons from Anna Montgomery. I have been working with her consistently for the past 8 years and learning about voice teaching with her expert guidance.
- In 2024 I started taking songwriting and official teacher training classes with Anna and learned a ton about how to teach — not only from the perspective of vocal performance and ear training, but also the physiology behind the voice and getting students in tune with their voices as unique instruments.
- I am currently teaching individual voice students and group students full-time, and recently completed Kate Elmendorf's voice anatomy for vocal directors course.
- In total, I have 24 years of voice training and singing experience. I am committed to working with my students to help them achieve their goals and to be a safe place for them to get comfortable with their voice.
Let's work together!

- Any other reason? let’s talk!
“I'm completely new to voice lessons and am just a casual singer, and I've already learned so much from working with Rosie. We discussed my goals for our lessons and she immediately identified a course of action for us. In just a month, I've developed a heightened understanding of my voice, received strategies to help myself as I grow into it, and heard feedback and tips that I never would've thought of myself. It's clear Rosie is using her talent, insight, and years of training to impart practical knowledge onto singers of all levels. I'd recommend her to anyone looking to develop their voice in a supportive, fun way!” - Charlie V.
“Voice lessons with Rosie have been so helpful for me. Such a boost of confidence in my voice, such an increase in comfort with myself, and of course seeing my ability to get stronger and my range more flexible. Singing to my mother has helped soothe her, and has helped me process my grief around her waning health. I couldn't have brought myself to do that a few years ago.” -Cat S.
