Rosie Friedland Kwartet

Now playing in kitchener-waterloo, canada!

The Rosie Friedland KWartet offers a fresh and exciting take on classic Canadian tunes, the great American Songbook, and your favourite radio hits. Just like the fabric of the Kitchener-Waterloo region, the Rosie Friedland KWintet is a lively interaction of people from near and far.

Vocalist Rosie Friedland, a recent transplant from Los Angeles, California, has extensive experience in the L.A. big band scene. She can be heard performing at the Jazz room, on local university campuses, and all summer long at the Eco Cafe in St. Jacobs.

Pianist Gennaro Notomista hails from near Napoli, Italy, and has performed to audiences around the world, including at the Waterloo Jazz Room with his Brazilian-Italian project "Natu Trio".

The KWintet rhythm section is rounded out by bassist Sam Ogilvie (from Truro, Nova Scotia) and percussionist Michael Brannan (from the Niagara region).

Sam is an active member of the local music scene, playing in Waterloo's Acoustic Steel band, and serving for many years on the board directors of the Grand River Jazz Society.

Michael and Sam can both be heard laying down the groove at Waterloo's Hepcat Swing Community Dance music events and at local retirement homes throughout with the year.

Upcoming and recent local performances by the Rosie Friedland KWartet/KWintet include:

- The Graduate House, University of Waterloo, May 29 (under the name Velvet Convolver).

- Pink Crow Cafe Summer Market, July 11.

- The Graduate House, University of Waterloo, September 2026 (date TBA).
